Prevention of Osteoporosis
There are various measures that can be taken to treat osteoporosis, however the best approach is to prevent it from occurring.

- Adequate daily calcium intake
- Adequate vitamin D intake through diet, supplementation or exposure to sunlight

A recent meta-analysis (with over 63,000 participants), published in the Lancet Journal has demonstrated that calcium supplementation alone or in combination with vitamin D is effective in the preventative treatment of osteoporotic fractures.
